The Portage Islanders fell 3-2 to the Royals in South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League action in Winkler.

Tanner Waldvogel got them out front in the first period, and they held the one-nothing lead into the second period. Winkler poured the pressure on in the middle frame to combine for two goals in the period to take the one-goal lead.

Landon Thomson would tie the game at 2 halfway through the third period, but again Winkler answered back to regain their lead and finish off the Islanders. Get the full game summary here.

Portage has now been knocked out of the second place spot by Carman. They sit in third with 21 points. The Islanders are back in action Thursday when they host Carman at the PCU Centre.
