The Tiger Hills Hockey League season is underway and the MacGregor Wild are gearing up for their opener tonight.

This is the Wild's fourth season in the league and they were one goal away from reaching the league finals last season. Team manager Trevor Kehler says the team has shown consistent growth.

"Yeah, we're super proud," says Kehler. "Every year we've gone one round further in the playoffs. So, if history keeps its way, the way things have been going, we should, hopefully, make those finals this year."

The Wild was just one of four teams to reach ten wins in the Tiger Hills Hockey League last season.

They also had the league's third-leading scorer who was Matt Varnes and he scored 25 goals putting up 46 points in only 18 regular-season games. Varnes also added 25 more points in ten playoff games.

Kehler talks about the roster and what he expects from them this season.

"This year we're hoping to just get the same core guys out," says Kehler. "We'll hopefully, add one or two more pieces to the team and we'll just look to keep building and getting better."

The Wild are set to begin their season at home as they welcome the Minnedosa Bombers to town at 8:00.
