The MacGregor Zone 7 High School Soccer team is welcoming Minnedosa this afternoon. The boys start at 4:30 and the girls play at 6:00.

Coach Corey May says they played both games last Tuesday quite well. He outlines who their new players are doing.

"With our new players, we actually have quite a number of grade nines out -- both boys and girls teams," explains May. "They're working hard and learning lots, and picking up a lot from veteran players. As far as leadership goes, we have a really good contingent of veteran players, both boys and girls teams. They're leading not on and off the field."

He says they're quite motivated to meet Minnedosa.

"Our boys' team had a bit of a slow start last game, and in the second half we really kind of turned it on," continues May. "It was 1-0 in half-time, but the final score was 7-0. So, definitely a stronger offensive performance but we played really well defensively all the game. That's really important. For the girls, a 2-1 loss is absolutely wonderful. We're normally a slow starting time. It's my first time coaching girls. I've been coaching the boys for 20 years. I know our girls usually have a slow start to the season, and this year we really trained hard We had a lot of confidence going in, and we're actually leading 1-0 in halftime. We had a lot of injuries and very few subs left by the end of the game. And that made it really tough. We kind of ran out of steam near the end and a 2-1 loss against Neepawa is still a good showing."
