Both Central Plains Capitals' midget clubs are in action tonight.

The Female Midget Caps (3-8-2) are in Winnipeg for an exhibition match against the Weyburn Gold Wings (0-15) of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League. "Weyburn was available, and they've agreed to come here," says Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen."Hockey Manitoba contacted us with availability of ice to try and showcase some AAA games during their 'Girls United Weekend', and (Weyburn) was in."

Nelissen knows the Gold Wings have struggled this season and he's hoping to get his team some confidence back with a couple wins.

"Hopefully we can see what the girls are capable of here, and give them an opportunity to play a different team. Maybe we can get off the shneid with a couple of wins."

The first of two is tonight at 6:40. They go again tomorrow night at 6:30.

The Men's Midget Capitals (15-9-1) host Kenora (9-11-1) in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League play.

Central Plains has won 2 straight since suffering an embarrassing 6-2 loss to Pembina Valley a couple of weeks ago.  "I've been really impressed with how they've been playing," says Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko. "It began with our captains and our leadership group. They had a players only meeting and talked about (the loss). I don't think they were happy with their effort and they came out gangbusters, it's been impressive since."

Gnidzieko says if they come out with the same energy and determination they had last weekend, they'll give themselves a shot to win every night. The Caps and Thistles go at 8 p.m. at the BDO Centre. They're in Yellowhead tomorrow for a meeting with the Chiefs.
