Local forward Joey Moffatt is taking his talents to the Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League for the 2020-21 campaign. Moffatt spent his last three seasons with the Portage Terriers putting up a total of 157 points in 163 games and he led the team in scoring in his final season.

He will be joining a Minot team that was around the middle of the pack in their division last year finishing with a 27-16-7 record. Moffatt describes what he will be bringing to the table for the Minotauros.

"I obviously want to bring my score in touch," says Moffatt. "I've been able to score at every level I played, and with another level, brings another challenge. So, I'm hoping I'll be on the score sheet quite a bit. With a little longer of an offseason, you get a little bit more time to work on stuff. I think I got a little bit quicker than I was last year and I think that's what I'm going to need to keep improving on if I want to make it to the next level and play NCAA hockey."

Moffatt will be adding his offensive ability to a unit that showed off their scoring touch last year as they finished fourth in goals scored in the 26 team league.

He says he excited to play with some new teammates and get used to, what he says is, a bit of a faster-paced game. He talks about his decision to head to Minot.

"Whether I get an NCAA scholarship or make the move up to the USHL next year or stay here next year, whatever it is, I think playing in this league will give me a little more attention. That's what I'm looking for," explains Moffatt.

Moffatt will make his debut for the Minotauros for their 2020-21 season opener on Friday, October 9th.
