Two local Portage Terriers have a couple more awards to add to their collection.

Defenseman Dean Stewart was named the Sher-Wood Defenseman of the Month for March, while 16-year-old sensation Nick Henry landed the IBAM Rookie of the Month award for the second straight month.

Stewart also picked up the Recycle Everywhere Player of the Week Award. He says Head Coach Blake Spiller trusts his judgement when jumping up in the play.

Stewart

"You know, if you think that you can make the play. Then he's fine with you stepping up, other than maybe if there's 2 or 3 minutes left in a 1 goal game. As far as my game, I just think that if we can bring a little more offense that will help."

Nick Henry says it didn't take long for him to find his game in the Winnipeg series.

"Winnipeg's pretty rough, they do a quite a bit of hitting -- and a little extra stuff -- but you get a couple shifts under your belt and you should be good for the series. At the start there was a little adjustment to the speed, and then now I'm kind of getting a little bit better, and more adjusted to the game style and speed."

Terriers' Head Coach Blake Spiller says, "Stewart's a guy that skates good enough -- similar to Orr -- that they can get up the ice and get back. They can make plays offensively, but at the same time we don't want them gambling all the time."

Spiller adds it's a real special season for both the players, especially since they're hometown boys.
