February's Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Player of the Month awards make it 9, and 10, for the Portage Terriers this season.

Terriers' Assistant Captain Shawn Bowles is the RBC Player of the Month. Bowles was injured for just over a third of the season, and still managed to get 65 points and finish 9th in league scoring. Bowles says despite his time out of the line-up, he's quite happy with his season.

"Yeah for sure. Obviously with the injuries it always gets harder and harder to come back from them. I had a couple there where I was out for about 4 or 5 weeks, so coming back from those I just tried to play my game and keep things simple, and it worked out."

Bowles had 19 points, 3 goals and a staggering 16 assist, to cap off the month of February.

Bowles wasn't the only Terrier named as a Player of the Month, fellow line-mate Nick Henry is February's IBAM Rookie of the Month. The 16-year-old Portage native was also the League's rookie of the year, as well the Terriers' Rookie of the Year award at their Awards Banquet last weekend. Henry says the awards were definitely not one of his season goals in October.

"I really didn't set very many, I just set some little ones and tried to have some success and help our team do well this year. Everything's kind of just fell into place better than I ever could have thought."

The rookie forward notched 16 points last month.
