The MacGregor Mustangs knocked off Killarney in their opening game of the Provincial 'AA' Varsity Boys Basketball Provincial Championships. They won 67-65 in an exciting game that came down to the final buzzer to advance to the Semi-final.

"We turned the ball over with like :20 seconds left and they hit a basket to be up by one, and with :09 seconds left we pulled ahead by one and managed to hold them off for the win," says Grade 12 Mustang Clayton Murray. "This season we'd usually get frustrated toward the end of games and we'd lose it, but this time we all came together and played great at the end of it."

Grade 11 Mustang Josh Kruse was named the player of the game for the match along with Killarney's Taylor Opperman.

"As long as we play together as a team we've got a shot at the title," adds Murray.

Their Semi-final match is Friday at 4 p.m. The Championship Final is Saturday at 2 p.m.
