The Portage Padres continue to be the class of the Santa Clara Baseball League.

Dustin Donald hit a two-run double and pitched a complete game to lead the Padres to a 5-4 win over the Dauphin Brewers in Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday at Republic Park in Portage la Prairie. In the second game, the Padres jumped out a 4-0 lead then Dauphin battled back to tie it. Kyle Hamilton plated the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to give the Padres another 5-4 win and a doubleheader sweep.

The Padres (8-0-1) hold a 1 1/2 game lead over the Neepawa Cubs for top spot in the SCBL. Portage finishes off a busy stretch against those very same Cubs tonight at Republic Park at 7.
