The Portage Padres have captured the Santa Clara Baseball League Pennant and a trip to the Senior Men's Provincial Championship with a sweep of the Ebb and Flow Lakers. They won both games of a doubleheader Saturday in Ste. Rose 3-0 and 8-6 to lock up top spot.

The 2016 League Champions finished the 2017 SCBL Regular Season in first place with an 11-1-2 record to punch their ticket to appear at the provincial championship tournament this summer. The Minnedosa Mavericks were the next closest team with a 10-3-1 record in second. Neepawa finished the season in third place at 8-5-1. Fourth place will be decided when the Plumas Pirates and Dauphin Brewers play the final game of the Regular Season Monday.

Jason Kirkland and Andrew Moar were the winning pitchers for the Padres in their final regular season outings. Kirkland pitched a complete game in the first with a two-hit shutout and 10 strikeouts. Moar pitched a complete game in the second with 0 earned runs.

Portage heads to the Senior Men's AA Provincials in Neepawa August 11th to 13th. They'll get set for playoffs which should begin Wednesday against Ebb and Flow in Portage. The final game of the regular season is Monday.
