Day one is in the books.

The Santa Clara Baseball Season was in full swing last night.

The Portage Padres walked away winners from Plumas. They knocked off the pirates 6-4 in Plumas.

"For the amount that we've practiced I thought the guys played pretty good," says Pirates Manager Tom Yandeau. "We had the bases loaded with no outs and we didn't score a run. So I'd say we didn't do too bad in the loss."

The Carberry Royals managed a 10-7 victory over the A's in Austin. The Minnedosa Mavericks narrowly won 3-2 over Neepawa on their home field.

"It was a well-played game for sure," says Maverick Jay Klym. "We only had two hits and we took advantage of some misplays from the Cubs and were able to get the victory."

The final game of the night was a tight one as well. Ebb and Flow squeaked out a 6-5 win over the Dauphin Brewers.

The next Santa Clara gameday is May 19th when the Ebb And Flow Lakers visit Plumas. The Portage Padres are back in action May 24th when they visit Neepawa. For the full Santa Clara schedule click here.
