The Portage Padres won 8-4 over Neepawa in Santa Clara Baseball at Rotary Republic Park.

The Padres were led by strong pitching from Rod McLeod, and a great day from Daylan Laramee at the plate. Laramee finished with 4 RBI's, and says it was a big win for their spirits.

Laramee hammering a double

"Our offense is just hit and miss. We have 1 good inning, then we have a bad inning, it's got to be consistent. I mean, we really needed this win. The hopes were going down after a few ties and a loss."

Padres' Pitcher Tanner Blight pitched the final two innings, and after walking his first batter with 4 straight balls, he really settled in.

"It was a slow start I guess. I was hoping to get the first guy out and work from there, but I didn't get that. So I had to battle back -- not kind of how you want to start -- but got the W and that's all that matters."

The Carberry Royals and Minnedosa Mavericks were also winners. The Austin A's and Plumas Pirates go Thursday night in Plumas.
