The playoffs are over for the Portage Terriers which means they can hand out their final team award; the Joe Sponarski Memorial trophy for playoff MVP. Terrier starting goaltender Nathan Park picks up the honour for his sparkling .921 save percentage and 1.95 GAA in 13 playoff games. He saved some of his best play for last, posting 2 shutouts in the Turnbull cup final against Steinbach.

Terrier assistant coach Paul Harland says he was crucial to their post season.

"He was very deserving of the recognition. As we went deeper and deeper in the playoffs, we could tell that he had a great regular season, but you have to step up in the post season and he did exactly that. He gave us a chance to win every night."

Harland feels that Park got better as it went along.

"Especially in the Western Canada Cup, in the last couple of games, he was the reason we beat Melfort in double overtime and kept it as close as we did against Brooks, and gave us a chance to advance in that game. We couldn't ask for any more from him."

At 20 years old Park now graduates from the Portage Terriers and will head back home to Edmonton Alberta. He plans on going to NAIT in Edmonton unless other hockey related plans come up.
