The PCI Saints title defense starts today in Morden.

It's the High School Fastpitch Provincial Championship today, and the Saints first game is this morning at 9. The Saints won their Zone Championship a couple of weeks back, but have had several practices to keep their skills sharp. PCI pitcher Emily Smith knows they'll have a target on their backs going in, but says it's not adding to the pressure.

"I think with going to provincials there's more pressure because the teams are better. But I think every team there is going to be good."

The Saints captured the 2015 Provincial Championship after beating Steinbach in the final game. Smith outlines her keys to being successful this weekend.

"Strength on the mound and also defensive. Offensive, we usually score a lot of runs, and that's when we have our best games."

She adds they're excited at the chance to repeat as champions.

"We're excited to go back to provincials this year. We're hoping for another win, and we're all just looking forward to the weekend."

The Saints and Vincent Massey Brandon go at 9 a.m. PCI plays again at 11 a.m. against Leo Remillard. Get the entire tournament draw here.
