Portage Minor Hockey Association's already pumped for Roger's Hometown Hockey in Portage la Prairie next March.

PMHA President Peter Fedak says it wasn't a complete surprise for him.

"We had heard some rumours about this a few months ago, and we had started to initially think about what we could do to support, and really get involved with it so the kids really got the best experience out of this."

Rogers will be showcasing the hockey community in Portage la Prairie over 2 days. Fedak says it's something all the players can get excited about.

"It's great for the hockey, but if you get the kids out there -- and maybe it'll be road hockey season at that point. We're excited to have that coming to town, see it on TV, and it'll be a great opportunity to really promote hockey and PMHA."

Fedak adds it's going to be a lot bigger than just Portage Minor Hockey.

"That's one thing we really want to promote as the year goes on, is what a unique chance this is for all the kids and everybody in and around. Also in the region, because it's not just Minor Hockey and PMHA, this is an excellent opportunity to partner with the city to bring something great to Portage."

Roger's Hometown Hockey's set for March 25th and 26th next year.
