The Portage Curling Club's annual general meeting was last night in Portage la Prairie.

President Jared Munro is on his way out after a 2-year term. He feels it was a positive two years with the club, and lists a couple of his highlights.

"We were really happy with our Learn 2 Curl program that we launched last year. We had 25 people participate in that and we're always looking for new ways to encourage new members to participate in curling and join the club. So it was a real positive move."

Munro's pleased with the financial side of the year as well.

Outgoing President Jared Munro giving his thoughts on the year.

"We were really targeting for a break-even year, and we came really close to that. So I think that's all we can hope for and it's good."

A new president and board were nominated and elected yesterday as well. Newly elected President Hartley Vanstone's looking forward to his time at the helm.

"I'm thrilled. It's exciting to be a member of the club first of all, and now I get to represent all the members as well. We're hosting the Manitoba Men's Provincial Championship and 2017 is going to be an awesome year."

The rest of the board consists of Jeff Dubois, Robin Young, Blye Sissons, Rob Gemmell, Stephanie Northrup, Cam Scott, Ryan Hyde and Jeff Askin. The Portage Curling Club's hosting the Viterra Championships at the PCU Centre in February and advance tickets are now on sale.
