The itch is being felt by golfers across Manitoba.

With the warm weather looking like it's here to stay golf season could be just around the corner. Portage Golf Club CPGA Pro Brad Young says they've had some traffic coming through their doors for a little while now.

"We've had several people over here paying for their memberships, or paying for Men's or Ladies leagues. A lot of people coming for coffee too because it's that time of year, the Masters is going on this weekend and golf is starting to get close to full swing. We're hoping to be open as early as the 15th of April like it is every year."

Young says right now the course is looking like it handled the winter well.

"It's hard to tell because there still is a lot of laying water for the moment but it's slowly greening up. Each day you can notice it's getting a little greener on the course. We're hoping with the pumping things will dry up nicely, and a couple of warm and windy days we could be open next weekend"

The Portage Golf Club's Annual General Meeting is coming up next week on the 11th. Young adds there may be a few changes to the course, but nothing is set in stone yet.
