The Portage Judo Club's Home Tournament is Saturday at the BDO Centre in Portage la Prairie.

"We have to set the draws up in the morning and the actual fighting will start at approximately 10:30 a.m., and we hope to have everything wrapped up between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the afternoon. It's not very long but it's going to be three mat areas going at the same time so there's a lot of action."

Case says the Club's made up of about 70 athletes and encourages anyone interested in coming out to stop by today.

"We'd like to see a lot more people sign up for Judo. It's free admission (today) for anyone that wants to come in and watch. There will be a lot of people around, and the judo people are very polite and hospitable, so ask anyone if you're not sure how the sport works. I'll be there too so ask for me and I'll try and set you up with someone who knows the sport."

"I've tried almost every martial art around..." adds Case. "... and I know Mixed Martial Arts-wise Rhonda Rousey, everyone is familiar with her, although she didn't have a good end to her career she was very successful using judo early on."

The Portage Judo Club also practices at Stride Place every Tuesday or Thursday and he welcomes anyone to check it out. The fighting begins around 10:30 this morning at the BDO Centre.
