The Portage Terriers have a chance to move on to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League final tonight.

They hold a 3-0 series lead over the Winnipeg Blues, after winning 7-4 on home ice Wednesday night at the PCU Centre. The closest game of the series was game 1 when the Terriers won 3-1, with Winnipeg struggling to keep up in the final period of each game.

Terriers' Head Coach Blake Spiller knows tonight won't be an easy win.

"Their thinking is they're going to get one at home, and see what they can do after that. They've obviously proved that they're right there. So we need to make sure that we're sharp, and we need to put our best foot forward here from the get go. We want to close it out then for sure."

Portage defender Brett Orr says they need to be better in the first.

"We have to bring a whole lot more intensity in that first period. We dug ourselves a hole in Game 3 and that was the worst thing we could've done two games up, give them some life. We need to come out hot in the first tonight, hopefully get a quick one, and maybe be a little more physical on them too."

You'd have to forgive the Blues if they were getting a little frustrated with the Terriers. Dating back to the regular season, the Dogs have beaten Winnipeg nine straight times.

Game 4 starts at 7 p.m. at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg. Catch the pre-game show on CFRY and Portage Online at 6:50 with Ryan Simpson and Aaron Wilgosh.

The other MJHL Semi-Final Series also continues tonight and it's a pivotal match in Winkler. The Flyers hold down a 2-1 series lead against Steinbach and hope to go up 3-1 with a home ice win. Should the Pistons take the game, the series would be tied heading back to the Automobile City.

The Semi-Finals start in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League tonight. Flin Flon is in North Battleford while defending champions Melfort host Nipawin.

They are also down to four teams in Alberta with defending champions Spruce Grove opening their series tonight hosting Lloydminster. Lloydminster is this years host of the RBC Cup. The other match has Brooks on home ice against Camrose. Both series are best of 7's.

In B.C., things are a little different and three teams play a round robin in the Semi Finals with the top 2 advancing to the league final. The three remaining teams are Chilliwack, West Kelowna and Nanaimo. The defending champions Penticton, who were tops in the league this year, were eliminated in Round 2. Terrier fans will remember this team from last years RBC.

Eventually, all four league champions will converge on Estevan for the Western Canada Cup starting at the end of the month.
