Portage Minor Hockey Association's Annual General Meeting's Wednesday night in Portage.

President Peter Fedak says they'll present how last season went, and discuss anything new for this upcoming season.

"Last year we introduced some developmental programs namely we brought out power skating for free for all players, we changed breakfast club, and we also brought in the Rink Training Centre to do our hockey development program at the start of the year with some checking clinics. All of those were added on on top of the programs in order to try to utilize the money we're getting rather than building the bank because we're in a good financial situation now according to the constitution, so now we can put all the money into programming for the kids."

Fedak says they're also working on developing their coaches, who are all volunteers.

"When we get a professional organization out like The Rink, it's good that the coaches can see different drills they run whether it's power skating or HTP where they run these checking clinics. The coaches get to see those things that go into the drills, but for the kids, having them run these drills is great. Powerskating is only 30 minutes long but they do pack a lot of great drills in there that are just individual player skills and some passing skills."

Fedak says there's a Terrier game at 7:30 so he's expecting a pretty good crowd for the AGM. PMHA received $14,000 from RBC, and another $15,000 from Scotia Bank during Hometown Hockey and Fedak says it's a big help that will go a long way.

"Those two boosts in one year is incredible, and it's all for player development programs over the next few years. It is going to be a fantastic way to go and we're really looking forward to next season."

Wednesday's AGM starts at 7 p.m. at Stride Place.
