A quick end.

The Portage Collegiate Institute Trojans were eliminated from the 'MILK' AAAA Provincial High School Hockey Championships Friday afternoon.

It was a short tournament for PCI as they fell in both of their round robin match ups. They lost 3-1 to Dakota early in the morning, then fell 6-0 to Vincent Massey from Winnipeg.

"The boys simply ran out of gas in the second game," says head coach Chris DeLong. "Vincent Massey was a very good team with lots of speed, well organized, and they kept coming and coming. It could've got out of hand but we had a chat with the boys between the second and third, said let's go out with some class, and went 0-0 in the third period so I'm glad we finished with a little bit of character and heart."

"I wasn't expecting to be that close with Dakota in the morning either," adds DeLong. "We were off for so long, and our conditioning wasn't really there, but they dug down and played a really smart, good game. Our lack of offence was something we struggled with all season. We'll have to do come serious skill development in the off season."

Eight players will be leaving the PCI Trojans' hockey program because of graduation. Layne Rintoul's one of those Trojans.

"The tournament was a lot of fun, and it was a great year with the boys. We gave it our all in the last game and it's too bad we didn't come out on top. Having all my family here and friends was great too. The program at PCI is great, the coaches were great, and the hockey academy program is excellent. I definitely recommend it."

Goalie Parker Page is also leaving the club.

"It was a tough tournament. The hockey was a little crazy with all the best players here compared to our league but it was good. It was a good experience and we got a couple extra games after playoffs so you can't go wrong with that. I love the team to death, sometimes we lacked in the winning part but it was still fun. Trojans for life."

Other graduating players include Sean Ballantyne, Jaden Bohn, Curran Ice, Ethan Lee, Lucas Neufeld, Brandon and Parker Page, and Layne Rintoul.
