There's a roller derby boot camp today at the Canad Inns in Portage la Prairie.

The Winnipeg Roller Derby League's All-Stars and PLAP City Rollers' Headstone Honeys are hosting the second annual event.

"It's for skaters who have been benchmarked, or qualified to play in a roller derby league," says PLAP City Rollers board member Jocelyn Durand. "Our members will attend, and skaters from other areas too, and what they do is hone their skills and learn new techniques for the sport. They'll all be working very hard to get back into shape for the upcoming season. We're also using it for an invitation to the community to come and see what it's about."

Registered skaters will be training with the two teams and they'll finish the day with a scrimmage around 3 p.m. They'll be at the Canada Inns all day with things wrapping up around 5.
