The Westpark Royals are at the Provincial A/AA JV Girl's Basketball Championship this weekend in Gimli.

The Royals won the Zone 4 Championship just over a week ago, and punched their ticket to the Provincials after defeating Glenboro in an interzone match.

Royals' Head Coach Brian Brewer says the girls have been working hard in preparation for the event.

"After we won our interzone last week, we've had two good solid practices this week and I think we're ready to go. So we're happy with our number 2 seed and we're anxious to get going."

Brewer says it's a big opportunity for his second year players.

"Well they're excited. Some of them went to Provincials last year, so they know what it's like. Some have never been there, so they're a little anxious but they're excited about going there and having some fun and playing hard to see how far we can go."

Westpark's first match of the tournament is today at 10:45 a.m. against Sainte Rose.

If the Royals win they move on to play at 5 p.m. in the semi-final, a loss sends them to the consolation side and they'll play tomorrow morning. The Final is tomorrow at 4 p.m. The schedule for the event is here.
