The PCI Saints were winners today in Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey at the BDO Centre in Portage.

They came away with a 3-2 win over the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes. The Saints had a 3-1 lead heading into the final period but couldn't seem to get one more to put the game out of reach. Miles Mac would add a goal late in the period, but the Saints tightened up defensively and held out for the win.

Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says the girls' skills have really improved, especially their basic knowledge of the game.

"We're starting to do a lot of the little things right like picking up trailers, and playing the body in the defensive zone, even things like changing properly and not getting caught with too many people on the ice. Those little things are turning into success."

She adds the offensive side of their game has been stellar all season.

"Every game we play we kind of control the play, and we get a lot of chances. We have no worries offensively, we're getting scoring from a lot of different people."

The Saints next game is Thursday when they host Kelvin in Portage
