The PCI Saints were winners, and losers, on home ice yesterday.

The faced off against River East twice at the PCU Centre. The first meeting was a make-up game after a player was injured in their first outing and time expired on the ice-rental. The Saints and Kodiaks were tied 4-4 with 8:51 remaining, and that's where they continued yesterday afternoon in Portage la Prairie. The Saints came out firing and controlled the play for almost the entire time and Maddie Shwaluk scored the game-winning goal to close out the game. Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says it was a tough situation but she was impressed with her teams' desire to win.

"The girls wanted to finish off with a win in that game. That was a game where we came back from 4-2 to tie it in the 3rd period, and we weren't playing all that great. so I was glad to see a response here."

After a quick 5 minute intermission, the teams set up for the faceoff of game two. The Saints fell 4-3 despite doubling their opponents shots on net and being the better team on the ice. Clark-Gillespie says that's happened a few times this season now.

"We shouldn't have 3 losses. Not the way we've played, not the way we're putting the puck on net, we shouldn't have 3 losses right now. We should be right up there with 0 losses, but you learn from that and hopefully, it will make you better come playoff time."

The Saints are off until a week from today when they visit Sturgeon Heights.
