There were four games last night, as part of the opening day for the Santa Clara Baseball League playoffs.

The Portage Padres came away victorious in their series opener against Ebb and Flow. They beat the Lakers 13-4 in Austin as the fields at Rotary Republic Park were too wet to play.

The Padres' Tyler Butler tells us how the game went.

"Pitchers were Dustin Donald and Joey Moffatt. Both gave up two earned runs. Hitting was kind of done by committee. Blake Swedlo had a couple of hits, and Landon Thompson had a couple of hits."

The Padres and Lakers go tomorrow night in Ste. Rose for game 2 with the Padres holding a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Other game one scores include Carberry beating Minnedosa 11-7, the Royals hold a 1-0 series lead. Neepawa got by Austin 8-5 to take a 1-0 series lead, and the Pirates managed to steal one from the Dauphin Brewers and also lead their best-of-3 series 1-0.
