The Central Plains Capitals host the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League Showcase this weekend at the PCU Centre in Portage la Prairie.

"There is a lot of hockey," says Co-coordinator Tracy Waldvogel. "There's 12 teams and they each play a minimum of 2 games. So in total there's 13 games starting at 5, and going until Sunday afternoon."

Waldvogel says parents will be looking after the doors, and 50/50 sales throughout the weekend. She says the showcase is a great opportunity for players, scouts, coaches, and even the city.

"It's good for the community to showcase the PCU Centre. We have 2 rinks so we're able to accommodate an event like this, and instead of showcasing only 40 players for an All-Star game, they started doing the showcase which can promote every player."

Central Plains has 3 games this weekend at the PCU Centre. The Caps' first game is against the Winnipeg Thrashers tonight at 7:30 p.m. They're up against Interlake tomorrow night at 7:30, and Sunday they face Eastman at 1:45 p.m.
