The Portage Thunder Ringette Club had some success over the weekend.

The U-10 Thunder took home the silver medal at the Manitoba Ringette Provincial Championship. Thunder Head Coach Brian Hauser says they lost 5-1 Saturday morning in the championship final.

"We met Steinbach in that match and we came out with a silver medal. The girls really played a good game, skated hard, worked hard, just came up a little short."

Hauser wants to thank his players for the amazing season, adding this is one of their best finishes in the past few years.

The U-16 B Portage Thunder won a silver medal over the weekend as well. They lost 8-5 to the Grunthal Red Wings in the Championship Saturday. Thunder's Manager Michelle Jack says the girls really pulled together to finish the season strong.

"Yes, we're very proud of those girls, they worked very hard. Grunthal's a very strong team, they've sort of been our nemesis all year. They really worked together to come together in the second half here, and we ended up in second spot through the league. It was good to come home with silver."

She adds the U-16 B team will be competing in the Provincial Championship being held here in Portage March 24th.
