The 2019 Canad Inns classic has crowned a new champion.

Team Stern from Switzerland faced off against Rachel Homan's team from Ontario.

It was a well-played match for both teams going back and forth scoring points until team Stern took it to extra ends and won the tournament 7-6.

This wasn't the first time in the tournament the two teams played. Homan defeated stern 8-3 during the round-robin.

Here's what Skip Elena Stern had to say about the match.

"I think as the younger more inexperienced team we had less to lose so we could just play freely, and without a lot of pressure," says Stern. "I think that helped us to play the best we could."

Team Stern defeated Scottland's Eve Muirhead 8-6 in the quarter-final, and then took out Swiss team Tirinzoni in the semi-final to reach the finals.

She talks about what it's like to play here in Portage.

"For us, it's really important that we can come here and play against really good teams," says Stern. "Yeah, the places may be random, but it's nice to see other parts of the world that are different from where we live."

There was a total of $60,000 in prize money to be won. Team Stern walked away with $15,000, while Homan walked away with $10,000.
