The Portage Terriers made a little noise in the offseason trade market.

The three-time defending Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions acquired 18-year-old defenceman Cole Thompson from the Superior International Junior Hockey League's Minnesota Iron Rangers in exchange for future considerations Tuesday, according to the league's website.

Thompson, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound blueliner of Devils Lake, N.D., had 33 points (10 goals, 23 assists) to go along with 86 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Iron Rangers during the 2016-17 season.
