The Addison Division final is all even at one game apiece after a double overtime thriller in Headingley last night.

The Winnipeg Blues played host to the Portage Terriers at the MTS IcePlex and after a scoreless first period, the Blues opened the scoring in the second. 39 seconds into the frame, Derek Gingera buried a powerplay marker to give the hometown squad the first lead of the game. They'd stretch it to 2-0 at the 12:59 mark when Jeff Borse tapped home a goal on a 5-on-3 advantage. Before the second was over, the Terriers got on the board thanks to Dylan Butler. The Terriers Rookie of the Year pounced on a juicy rebound for his 2nd of the playoffs, cutting the lead to one.

Brendan Harms evened things up at 2-2 midway through the third, batting a rebound out of mid-air and putting it to the back of the net, forcing overtime at the IcePlex.

The Terriers talk things over before the start of overtime.

With nothing solved after an extra ten minutes, double overtime would be needed. 5:03 into the fifth period, Paul Bonar provided the heroics for Winnipeg. The smooth-skating defenseman snapped home the winner from the point, giving the Blues the 3-2 win and tying the best-of-seven series at one game apiece.

The Blues celebrate after Bonar's double overtime winner.

Terrier captain Andrew Wiebe feels the team brought a good effort to the rink, the bounces just didn't go their way.

"I felt we definitely played a lot better today than we did two days ago," says the Thunder Bay product. "We have to get on it a bit earlier next game and try to get up on them."

Tyler Larson was held off the scoresheet for the first time in the 2012 playoffs.

Game three in the series goes Tuesday, March 20th back at the PCU Centre. Defenseman Justin Slobozian says the club knows what they need to do differently.

"Just gotta get on 'em hard," says Slobozian. "Get 'em off their game, get it in their end. Teams don't like that so that's what we gotta do."

Puck drop for game three is scheduled for 7:30 pm on Tuesday night.
