It was a tight game for the Portage Terriers last night as they fell to the Flyers 4-1 in Winkler. The Flyers opened the scoring halfway through the first period when Jeff Michiels fed Scott Gall in front of the net shorthanded. The Terriers got their share chances in the first frame, including a breakaway for Adam Wowryk, but Cole Weaver shut the door.

Ryan Sokoloski would open the scoring for the Terriers in the second period finishing off a 3 on 1 rush. Calvin Bliid broke into the zone, saucered a pass to Ty Enns who hit Sokoloski driving to the net. The puck would cross the goal line moments before Sokoloski and the defenseman trailing the play would crash into the net. Scott Gall would record his second goal of the night for Winkler when he fired home a loose puck at the side of the net with less than a minute left in the frame.

Portage continued to hit posts and miss chances as their goaltender Brock Aiken kept them in the game. Coltyn Bates extended the Flyers lead early in the third period on the power play and Gall would complete the hat trick and score on the empty net in the last minute.

Aiken stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced and was saddled with just his second loss of the season. It was a quiet night for the refs; there were 5 minor penalties in total and one fight.
