Make it eight straight for the Portage Terriers in the MJHL.

Riley Bruce had two goals and an assist as the Dogs defeated the Winnipeg Blues 5-4 at home.

The Blues came out with a 2-0 lead after two turnovers by the Dogs. With 45 seconds left in the first frame, Kolton Shindle would tie it. Joey Moffatt and Lane Taylor earned the assists.

After a scoreless second, a flurry of goals came in the third. With the Dogs on the power play, Logan Christensen would find the back of the net, assisted by Chase Felgueiras and Bruce. While the goal was being announced, the Blues fired back with their own marker 10 seconds later to re-gain the lead at 3-2. The Terriers would once again tie it about a minute later when Moffatt would beat the goaltender, assisted by Jacob Piller and Mack Belinski.

At 8:08, Bruce scored his first of the game, giving the Terriers their first lead. He describes the goal in which he found himself out front all alone.

"It was really a quick transition," says Bruce. "Christensen got it up to me quickly. I threw it across to Shindle really fast, and I saw that both defencemen were aggressive on Shindle, so I just took off as fast as I could and he found me. I just worked from there."

The Blues would tie it 4-4 about four minutes later on the power play, but Bruce would get the game winner four minutes after that with just under four minutes left.

"Christensen drove hard to the net, right off the draw, and I kind of cleaned up his rebound," says Bruce. "I was just hard to the net, (making) hard plays and getting to the right spots, and hopefully it works for us."

Bruce leads the league with 22 goals. He has six goals in his last three games, and 17 in his last 14.

The Terriers turn their focus to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. That game is tonight at 7:30 in Waywayseecappo.
