The Portage Terriers are looking to remain undefeated today as they battle the Dauphin Kings in MJHL action.

The Terriers are coming off of two good performances, in front of scouts, at the MJHL showcase. The Kings, on the other hand, are just 1-4 so far this year.

The dogs' goalie Nathan Moore has played well to start the year with a goals-against-average of just 1.74, he talks about his hot start.

"I've just been taking it one day at a time and one game at a time," says Moore. "I'm not looking too forward into the future just taking it one shot at a time, I guess you could say. I've just been working on my mechanics and trying to improve on what the coaches tell me that I can improve on from practice and from last year as well."

Moore gives some insight into what advise the coaches have given him.

"It being my second in the league, I've got that experience now," says Moore. "I've played against every team in this league, I know what it's like playing in other team's rinks. It's just bringing that experience into every game and working really hard to improve on the little mechanics in my game."

The offense has been clicking to start the year for the Terriers as they have outscored their opponents 25-11 thus far. Despite that, Moore feels like their strongest area has still been their defense.

"It starts from the D(defensive)-zone up," says Moore. "We've had a really good D-zone so far. Our defensemen have done a really good job of out-working the other team's forwards. We do a really good job of turning that defense into offense, getting odd-man rushes off of plays coming out of our breakouts. Also, our fore-check has been good, we fore-check really hard to try and get their defensemen to make mistakes."
