The Portage Terriers have swung a trade before MJHL training camps kick-off.

The Terriers have acquired Centre Mackenzie Belinski from the Neepawa Natives in exchange for the CJHL rights to Centre Reilly Funk, Goalie Ethan Peterson and future considerations.

Belinski led the Natives last year in both goals and assists, totalling 48 points on the year.

He explains what Terrier fans should expect from him this year.

"I'm just a guy that goes out there every night and works hard," says Belinski. "I like to make plays and I think I see the ice well. I like to get up ice and I'm not afraid to go in the corner, I just (try to) help my team win every night."

He also outlines how he feels about coming to Portage.

"It's exciting," says Belinski. "The Terriers have a history of being a winning team in the past. With them hosting the National Junior A Championship this year, I think we're going to have a very strong team and make a good run. I think we'll represent the MJHL well."

Belinski hopes to exceed his point total from last season, but his first priority is always team success.

He will make his first appearance with the Terriers August 30th when training camp begins.
