Twenty-four teams from in and around the Portage area came out to play. Farrol Asham is one of the clubs' ice technicians and outlines it was a great weekend of excellent curling. He notes, once you're playing a club level the matches are pretty even.

Dale Fust of the La Salle Curling Club took the win in the A event, Daryl Bachalo of the Portage Curling Club won in the B event, and Doug Jordan also of the Portage Curling Club fought for the win in the C event.

"A big thanks to all of our great sponsors," says Asham. "The teams were very happy with the prizes, and all the organizers were very happy with the response we did get from the sponsors. It was very impressive."

Looking ahead Asham notes next year the bonspiel will be held earlier; dates are not yet available.

Asham adds volunteers are needed for the 2020 Canadian Curling Championship taking place in Portage March 13th - 22nd next year. He outlines the sign up to volunteer will take place Sunday, March 17th at stride place between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Also coming up is the Last Chance Spiel, entries are still being accepted! This curling event takes place March 29th - 31st.
