The Portage Collegiate Institute Trojans are looking forward to defending their Zone 4 Title this year.

The schedule has been released for the upcoming Zone 4 High School baseball season and PCI opens things up on April 25th against Northlands Parkway at Rotary Republic Park.

"We've been practicing for about three weeks now," says head coach Jay Dewis. "We're looking at only three weeks out from our first game and the boys are excited to get going. We only graduated one player and it sounds like we're losing one other, but we're returning a similar team. So we're hopeful we'll have a good season."

The Trojans went 8-2 through the regular season last year. Their offence was a huge part of their success scoring 91 runs in 10 games, an average of 9.1 runs per game and 38 more than second-best Garden Valley Collegiate. They then won both of their playoffs games to capture Zone 4 title over WC Miller. They were also just shy of capturing the Provincial Championship but fell 3-2 to Dauphin in the Final.

Dewis adds they're looking to get outside to practice as soon as they can.

Here's the season schedule. Each game is a double header with the first match starting at 4:15 p.m.
