Despite a strong start for PCI in their second game of the Manitoba High School Field Lacrosse League Playoffs in Winnipeg, the Trojans were unable to hold off the Garden City Gophers and lost 8-2 earlier today. Trojans' head coach Al Patterson says the team started the game well, but notes they were missing a few key players and that played a factor.

"It's a pretty tough sport to be playing when your short some key members of the team. I thought we came out strong, we scored early and it looked like things were going to be working out in our favour a bit, unfortunately we were unable to contain some of their offensive guys and they were able to pick up a few goals fairly quickly and set us back a bit."

Patterson says the team got into some penalty trouble, which didn't help.

"We took an awful lot of penalties today because we were chasing the ball around a lot and any time you take penalties against a good team, they usually make you pay."

The Trojans play tomorrow morning at 11:30 in the consolation semi finals, and Patterson says it would be nice to end the season with a couple of wins.

"We still want to end the season on a good note, so hopefully the kids rebound and come ready to play and we'll see how things go."
