The Norman Wild made full use of their trip to Portage la Prairie.

A day after beating the Central Plains female midget Capitals 4-2, Norman completed a weekend sweep, downing the Caps 3-0 in Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) action Saturday night at the BDO Centre in Portage la Prairie.

Megan Quesnel scored twice, and Brittany Johnson added a goal for Norman. Quesnel staked the Wild to a 1-0 lead late in the first period. It wasn't until the third that Norman opened up a bit of a cushion. Just over three minutes into the third, Quesnel jumped on a rebound kicked out by Lacey Friesen and quickly fired a low shot in to make it 2-0. Then past the midway mark, Johnson forced a turnover in the Capitals' zone then shot from the top of the face off circle, barely trickling the puck through Friesen to make it 3-0.

Shayna Moore had a 21-save shutout in the win, while Friesen stopped 18 in the loss. Each team had 21 shots.

The Capitals (3-10-0-3) will continue to look for their first win of 2017 next Thursday, when they visit the Winnipeg Avros (10-6-4-0).
