It was a rough road game for the Portage Terriers last night as they fell 9-3 to the Winkler Flyers. The bounces didn't seem to be going Portage's way in the first period as they outshot Winkler 15-8 but were outscored 2-1. Winkler got on the board first with a goal from Gino Lucia. Layne Toder would tie the game for Portage 40 seconds later when his point shot found it's way through traffic. Winkler's leading scorer Scott Gall would get his first of the night before the end of the frame finishing a nice pass from former Terrier Ian Mackey.

The second period started to shift towards the Winkler Flyers as they scored 4 straight goals. Terrier goaltender Brock Aiken's night was done after he let in a goal from Nolan McGuire halfway through the frame on just the 11th shot he faced. Wesley Ellingson would come into the game for Portage but would let in a goal on the first shot he saw from Tyler Jubenvill. Lucia and McGuire would both score again for Winkler in the second period to give the Flyers the 6-1 lead heading into the third.

The Terriers made the game interesting in the final frame as they tried to draw on their past experience of coming from behind. Ty Enns and Chase Brakel scored seconds apart to bring the deficit to 3. It wouldn't be enough as McGuire and Lucia completed the hat trick and Gall would get his second of the night to close out the game. The Flyers scored 2 goals on the power play and 1 shorthanded. The Terriers now move to 9-2 on the season, and will have a few days off to get ready for a Sunday meeting with OCN at the PCU Centre.
