1,000 Faces Hidden Within is the name of the exhibition currently on display at the Portage and District Arts Centre. Lee Beaton's the artist, and held its grand opening last night. Executive Director Margaret Bernhardt-Lowdon comments on the uniqueness of Beaton's installation display that includes many hanging pieces.

"I just find it so exciting and vibrant, and something we should be doing more of," says Bernhardt-Lowdon. "We need to have more people in here so they can enjoy the art that we have here. We need to have different types of art, different mediums, different ways of presenting it. So, this is great."

Beaton explains her exhibition of 108 faces is more personal, noting she really put herself into it along with her emotions. She notes she's relieved it's completed and appreciates all who came out in support. Beaton adds she's now focused on beginning another series.

She explains the inspiration behind the title comes from a renowned artist who made the statement saying until you've drawn 1,000 faces you cannot say you can draw faces.

The exhibition's on display until August 26.
