The 145th Portage Ex is now in the books.

Fair Board President Wes Hannah says it went very well with plenty of community support.

"Looking at the midway and the entertainment and going around the horse area and the cattle area; lots of families, very proud of that. It's nice to know that our families are coming and enjoying the Portage Ex."

He explains they saw a variety of people come out to the Ex.

"We've seen people that came to watch the cattle and to watch the horses, and then we've seen a different group of people that came to see the entertainment which we were quite proud of because it is something a little different for us this year. In the midway, going through the midway, lots of people, lots of long line-ups which I'm sure some people really don't enjoy that part, but for us, it showed us that people were really enjoying the midway."

He adds this year they received plenty of compliments from those who attended the fair.

Hannah notes they've already started thinking up ways to top this year's Ex and make the 146th Portage Ex even better. However, he says they won't start officially planning until after Christmas.

Hannah says one thing they would like to see is more people involved with the Portage Ex.

"We do need more volunteers. We have a good group now but, as with everything, there is always changes and people have other demands in their life that they have to attend to also."

He adds it would be nice to see some new people come to the table.
