A Spring Choir Concert was held last night at the Prairie Vineyard Church.

The night started off with a selection of songs, from On The Sunny Side of the Street to I Love Paris, performed by the Junior Choir, featuring kids from grades five to eight and, after a short intermission, the Adult Choir took to the stage. Choir director Helen White explains they have a mix of people in the choir, some have sung in choirs before while for others, it's their first time.

"Some have been in lots of choirs; school choirs, university choirs, church choirs, community choirs. Some are completely new and just wanted to try singing. We've got people that love reading music, understand the language of reading music, and we've got other people that just love singing by ear,"

She says she feels everyone had a good time, and both choirs did an excellent job.

"They sounded lovely, both choirs sounded lovely. They get a bit nervous to start and it takes a while to kind of break the ice. They all did really well."

Talya Moffit is a member of the Junior Choir and says she enjoyed performing in the concert.

"My favourite part was the one where we did the instruments (I Love Paris) because we got to use instruments."

She adds one of the things she likes about singing in the choir is the way it sounds.

White notes they'd like to thank the Prairie Vineyard Church for allowing them to use the venue, the Portage Conservatory of Music, and everyone who helped out.

The proceeds from last night's concert went toward the Women's Shelter.
