We're roughly three weeks away from the 2018 Manitoba Air Show at Southport.

Event Co-chair Peter Fedak tells us they're in the final stages, tying up loose ends, after starting work last August.

"Most of the preparations are once you can confirm that you have the Canadian Forces Snowbirds," he says, "And we did that in December, and that's when everything started to tick along for that weekend. The committee is fantastic, getting volunteers organized, arranging for the parking, Manitoba Infrastructure and the RCMP for traffic control on the highways, ticketing, food vendors, numerous displays, and then, of course, you have everything going on in the air."

Fedak stresses they've made ease of access for vehicles at the event a priority, after the difficulties they experienced at the last show. He says they'll have three entry points off the Trans Canada Highway.

"There's lane control on the highway," he says, "They'll be slowing the Trans Canada down to make sure people can access through. One is a VIP entry point, if you buy those tickets. Once you're in, we have 10,000 stalls, so we're more than prepared, with plenty of people directing traffic."
