Alcohol and speed are considered to be factors in a vehicle rollover at Long Plain First Nation that sent two people to hospital Sunday, the Dakota Ojibway Police Service says.

DOPS, RCMP and EMS were called to the scene of the one vehicle incident at 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning. A 47-year-old female and 35-year-old male, both from Long Plain, were ejected from the car. Police say the male suffered extensive injuries and was airlifted to hospital by STARS in critical condition. The female was transported by ambulance to Portage District General Hospital, then later transferred to Winnipeg.

Both are in stable condition now.

DOPS with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Analyst continue to investigate the incident. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the accident to contact the Long Plain Detachment at 204-252-4488.
