The family tradition is spreading. Darcy Miller of Oakville initiated the Growing Support for Cancer campaign, and to date, two of his sons have taken the torch to continue the effort. Carter Miller is almost 13 years old, and notes he wanted to put his hand to the effort.

"I just thought about it, and then my friends and I made up an idea we'd do it all, and they couldn't make it," says Carter. "So, we're going to do some more. My little brother Ian also did a freezie sale, so I thought it would be a good idea to carry on the tradition."

He explains he held a bake sale with pumpkin muffins at the Oakville Farmers Market on July 6th and raised over $400. Carter says many people encouraged him and gave donations, adding he hopes to hold another effort in August during some days he has off. He plans to hold similar events every year.

Carter extends his thanks to his mother, Andrea, for helping him get supplies and letting him use her kitchen, and he thanks Tracey Erickson for letting him set up shop at the market.
