The RCMP has released a series of security camera images as it continues work to identify two unknown suspects connected to an armed robbery at the Days Inn near Portage la Prairie on Highway 1 last week.

Police officers responded to an incident on July 20 at 4 a.m. at the hotel, where an employee had been assaulted with bear spray and a male and female suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended the scene to gather any evidence left behind by the assailants.

“We want to know who's responsible for this crime, but also any crime where threats of violence or acts of violence take place,” says Portage la Prairie RCMP Const. Sean O'Keefe. “We know these people will be recognized by someone and we hope they would come forward and tell us to help us bring these people to justice.”

Mounties describe the first suspect as an Indigenous female, first seen wearing a pink tank top, black and white tights, and tan-coloured boots. In the security images, the same suspect returns with the second suspect a short time later, having now covered her face with a bandana, sunglasses, and wearing a black hooded sweater.

The second suspect is an Indigenous male, wearing black clothing, white gloves and a white covering over the lower part of his face.
