There'll be a lot of fast talking this weekend at Portage la Prairie's Canad Inns.

The Manitoba Auctioneers Association's annual general meeting's taking place there tomorrow.

President Wayne Kauenhofen says all 47 of their members are expected to attend, and they'll start by hearing from some guest speakers.

"We've got Brad Martin, Vice-president Sales and Marketing for Global Auction Media Group. And then, later on, we'll have Sue Clayton, who's the executive Director of Agriculture In The Classroom. And then we break off for lunch, and we come back and we'll hold our AGM. We have some regional directors we have to vote on."

Kauenhofen's been an auctioneer for 18 years, but says with members who've been doing this for 30 years, there's lots to learn.

"So you can brainstorm, if nothing else. Maybe you've had a situation come up at a sale -- you can talk to these guys about it, get two, three, four different opinions. And I think it's just get together, meet everyone, reminisce a little bit, talk about sales."

The AGM is all day, wrapping up with a public auction at 7. Part of the proceeds go to Central Plains Cancer Services.
