The Balmoral School is hoping to see the speed limit on the highway along its location decreased. RM of Rockwood Reeve Jim Campbell explains.

"It came before council about a month ago for discussion and we made the resolution the other day to approve it," says Campbell. "And that's to reduce it from 50 km/h down to 30. It's actually a provincial highway that goes right by the school. The school advisory group had requested that we decrease it down to 30. After some discussion, council was in favour of supporting that."

Campbell notes the RM doesn't have the power to change speed limits on its own gravel roads and is required to request it with a resolution to see the province deny or approve. Now that the resolution's been approved by council it will go before the province. Campbell hopes to see the new speed restriction in place by September.
