The 36th Annual Firefighter's Burn Fund Bike Auction was a big success yesterday at the Portage la Prairie Fire Hall. Fire Chief Phil Carpenter says over 120 bikes were auctioned off, which is great because all of the money raised at the auction is going to a great cause. He notes a local business really helped out this year.

"All of the money raised is going to the Firefighter's Burn Fund. A big thank you to Wal Mart; they donated 12 bikes to our auction this year. They were all pretty much new bikes with some minor parts missing so we definitely appreciate that."

Fire Chief Phil CarpenterCarpenter says the event went along smoothly.

"The auction went really well. There was a good crowd and lots of bikes, I think we had over 120 bikes that went up for sale. It was a beautiful day and everything went well, so it was an excellent year."

He says the amount of people who showed up, and the amount of money that the bikes were sold for was a little bit above average of previous years.
